What ever are you talking about? The NY Tech Meetup “sprung up” and is about “networking”? The NY Tech Meetup is over 10,000 members strong and is about showcasing cool new tech. Elsewhere, the NY Angels makes a dozen or so investments a year; VC funds like USV, DFJ Gotham, RRE, Softbank, Betaworks, NYCseed, and Greycroft are headquartered here and invest here; the ITP program at NYU produces fundable, Google-acquired startups at an alarming rate; AlleyCorp produces hit after hit.

The story that “it’s not happening in NYC” is tired and not true, Scott. We’re kicking ass.

So, a warm welcome goes out to First Growth, but they join an already amazing community in NYC, not one sitting around waiting for their saving graces.
